Red Rock Canyon Open Space is a 789-acre city park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is located on the west side of the city, adjacent to Manitou Springs and south of U.S. Route 24. The park consists of a series of parallel ridges (called "hogbacks") and eroded canyons, a continuation of the same sandstone rocks of the Fountain Formation that make up Garden of the Gods to the north.
Red Rock Canyon is a popular destination for hiking, biking, rock climbing, and horseback riding. There are over 15 miles of trails in the park, ranging in difficulty from easy to strenuous. Some of the most popular trails include the Red Rock Canyon Trail, the Trading Post Trail, and the Overlook Trail.
The park is also home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, coyotes, and hawks. Visitors to Red Rock Canyon can often see these animals up close, making it a great place to experience the natural beauty of Colorado Springs.
